Linus Tech Tips explains the new Dell DDR5 CAMM memory module and does a deep dive comparison against the SODIMM memory modules.
“McCauley Design Group is a crucial partner in CAMM creation and development. As a long time McCauley Design Group customer, I turned to them for deep ECAD study and development for my invention of CAMM (Compression Attached Memory Module). Since 2020, McCauley Design Group has designed all Dell original CAMMs which ship today. As CAMM moved towards JEDEC standardization, McCauley designed all JEDEC DDR5 and LPDDR5 CAMMs which were offered to the JEDEC task group as reference designs. Dell sponsors three of these CAMMs which McCauley Design Group will complete for production. Aside from CAMM, McCauley Design Group also engages with Dell architecture teams when complex ECAD questions need to be resolved, spanning IO cards to motherboards.”
Tom Schnell; Senior Distinguished Engineer, Dell Technologies; CAMM inventor and JEDEC CAMM task group chairman
